Quite a number of things may be required by your school in your SOP, but there is a general rule that your SOP should give an insight to who you are, what you intend to achieve and what you have been doing to achieve the said goal.

When writing an SOP, you should not be outright bothered about how to articulate your thought or where to start from. Do you have a course in mind? Do you have relevant professional experiences that are related to that course? Then, good news, it is even easier for you to write your SOP than it would be for someone without the experience. However, this is not to say that someone without relevant experiences can’t write a compelling SOP. In fact, such persons may even come up with a more compelling SOP.

According to a statement credited to Mr Gbadamosi Toheeb, even if you don’t have relevant experiences in your chosen course of study, try to paint a clear picture of your passion for the job in your SOP. For example, a student who wants to study Environmental Science may not have professional experiences in such line, but should show in his SOP how his life style over time makes him a tree hugger or an ecologically-conscious human.

Another thing you need to know is that when preparing your SOP drafts, you don’t need to start immediately with your motivation, it is usually a tricky area. You can go ahead to tell how your previous studies make you a perfect fit. Talk about how your experiences are connected to the field, talk about your choice of school and country, talk about future objectives and now return to do justice to the motivation.
